Spring is here and there’s no better time to shake off the winter by getting your house in order!

With the weather getting warmer and your energy rising, we have outlined some useful Spring Cleaning Tips to help you get organized:

 Spring Cleaning Checklist:

 Dusting: Move from top to bottom! Everything from lamp shades, ceiling fans, 

1. corners, baseboards and  furniture could all use a dusting after a long winter.
2. Vacuuming: Vacuum and shampoo carpets. Get behind furniture and appliances, 
3. under beds, between couch  cushions and make sure any air vents and air filters are
4. clear. Shake out any small throw/area rugs to remove dust and dirt.
5. Replacing Batteries: Check and replace batteries for smoke detectors, thermostats
6. and carbon monoxide detectors throughout your house.
7. Windows: Clean and wash all windows, both inside and out. Rinse any window 
8. screens and replace storm window panes.   
9. Doors and Light Switch Plates: Wipe down and disinfect doors and light switches,
10. especially in any high traffic areas.
11. Bathrooms: Mop and scrub floors and wash floor mats. Clean mirrors and shower
12. glass, polish faucets and scrub the bathtub and/or shower.
13. Basement: Air out, sweep and organize your basement. Find any items you may 
14. no longer want or need and consider donating or selling them.
15. Exterior: Powerwash the exterior of your house, make sure all gutters have 
16. been  cleared out and touch up painted areas such as window sills and door frames.

     Once you’ve cleaned up and reorganized your home, be sure to also take a look at your household budget and see how your mortgage fits with your financial goals. Interest rates are still at historic lows, so now is a great time to see if refinancing or purchasing a new home would be beneficial to you.
